Parental Rights: Parents are the first educators of their children, and it is parents who are responsible for the full development of their child; physically, mentally, and morally.  Parents must have transparent access to any and all information regarding their child while in school.

 

Student Success:  All students in the Mesa Public Schools District deserve equal opportunities for developing a love for learning, and a solid foundation upon which to achieve success.  There must be a guiding belief from the top down that EVERY child can learn.   Increasing time spent learning academics must be a priority..

 

Student Safety:  EVERY child deserves an educational environment which is free from harassment and bullying in order to feel safe both mentally and physically while on our school campuses.   Effective discipline which maintains individual responsibility for actions must return as the norm.

 

Fiscal Responsibility:  As a small business owner, I understand the importance of effective money management.  There is waste in the public school system that needs to be addressed so that every taxpayer has confidence that their money is being spent wisely.

Teacher Support:  We must respect the ability of our effective teachers, and use them as paid mentors for new teachers.  The over reliance on testing as proof of learning must be rolled back, so that teachers can actually teach.  Time spent learning must be increased.  Again, discipline must be a priority in order for teachers and students alike to be in a learning environment free from harassment and bullying.
